Improving wellbeing with technology
Lykkeli CIC
Our mission
Our mission is to provide scalable digital tools and resources to help everybody improve their wellbeing and emotional resilience.
We believe that we can proactively improve our mental state even when we are “ok”. Building resilience and learning tools and resources upriver will enable us to handle a crisis downriver. Similar to doing yoga, gym or eating well for physical health.
Our Vision
We want to create a world where people feel heard and connected to each other. Where people have an awareness of their thoughts, feelings and responses. Which gives them a choice on how to respond, instead of repeating same old patterns and same results.
Why
We believe that better and resilient emotional wellbeing will have a massive impact on individuals, their relationships and will have a ripple effect throughout society. That kind of strength will reduce loneliness, anxiety and stop people developing mental health issues.

1 in 4
Experience mental health issues every year
In the UK population 1 in 4 experience mental health issues every year, 6.7% have attempted suicide, 7.3% have engaged in self-harm, 27-29% of students report clinical levels of psychological distress. Mental ill health is responsible for 72 million working days lost and costs £34.9 billion each year. More than 2 million people in England over the age of 75 live alone, and more than a million older people say they go for over a month without speaking to a friend, neighbour or family member [sources: Age UK, MFHA]. Waiting times for mental health services are long, and only a third of people who need it seek help.
Mental health issues have become a much covered topic today. It’s almost always talked about in terms of crisis and not so much in terms of every day wellness. We want to focus on people’s wellness, the stage where things are ‘ok’, and enable people to handle a potential crisis by equipping them with tools, resources and resilience. Shifting ‘ok’ to awesome, confident, calm, happy!
Why technology? Because it’s scalable and can reach millions of people. We can make the most impact that way. One good product used daily by millions will have a global effect.
Why non-profit? Because we want this company to live a long life doing good, producing awesome and useful products, with a pure purpose, where profit won’t get in the way of the mission. Of course, it will do both, so we can stay running, but if there ever is a case of having to choose between profit or a better outcome, outcome wins.
What will we use the profits for? Expand and grow more tools, reach more people, create awareness and openness to inner life, cutting cost of products, pay our bills and salaries. No one gets dividends. There is no IPO in the future.
Outcome
What do we gain from doing this? How do we contribute to the world? In many ways;
Empowering people with resilience to handle crisis, drama and every day hardship, will lead to happier and more confident people. Then can then bring that happiness and confidence into their life, work and relationships.
Providing connection and a space for expression that will lead to connected and more empathetic people.
Giving people purpose, a more meaningful life.
All of this will have a ripple effect. A boss, a colleague, a friend or spouse, connecting better with others, will improve all their lives, and ripple even further out.
Doing all of this makes us happy.
“It’s like going to the gym, or doing yoga, for your mind”

What does lykkeli mean?
Pronounced ‘Li-ke-lee’, a universal Scandinavian word for happiness.
We are drawing from the quiet Scandinavian wisdom on how to grow and find inspiration for ourselves. It’s the feeling of a mountain wooden cabin, with crackling fire inside and night-time northern lights blooming outside. Or the sense of peace you might have on a rowing boat amidst two snow capped mountains in a calm fjord.
